Dr. Mekari moved to the New Orleans area in 1994. He graduated with numerous honors and awards from LSU in Baton Rouge, with a degree in Microbiology. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans in 1998. Dr. Mekari has comprehensive training and experience in many disciplines of dentistry. He also acquired additional training during his senior year in advanced endodontics, dental lightening, indirect composite, dental implants, and esthetic periodontology. He also completed his externship at UMDS Dental School, Guy’s Hospital, London, UK, and Assistance Hopitaux Publique de Paris Dental School in Paris, France.

Dr. Mekari actively participated in the clinical research of removing wisdom teeth, which was conducted by the Clinical Research Center in New Orleans, for the treatment of post-op dental pain. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, and the New Orleans Dental Association since 1998. He is also a current member of the Academy of General Dentistry,the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. He exceeds the bi-annual hours of continuing education required by Louisiana State Board of Dentistry.
Dr. Mekari is certified in Invisalign (orthodontics without braces) and he is thrilled to inform you that he offers laser dentistry (sometimes requires no shots or no drills) at his office. He also provides digital radiography, 3-D imaging, computerized delivery of local anesthetic (even adds more comfort to his gentle touch) and phase microscopy, which provides a visual magnification of the oral flora—a motivating and teaching tool about your oral health.

He is fluent in English, French, and Arabic, and conversational with Italian and Spanish.
